You are also invited to join us on Saturday, December 9th as our local Scout Troops place flags on our veterans graves. Flag placement will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Please join us on Thursday, October 19 and Friday October 20, 2017 for two caregiver programs provided by the world renowned Speaker & Grief Counselor - Dr. Alan Wolfelt.
Thursday's seminar, entitled "Exploring Death, Grief and Mourning", will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.at North Bay Community Church located at 3170 N. McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater. This compassionate program will offer you support and tools to deal with grief.
Friday's seminar, entitled "The Art of Companioning" will be held from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Empath Health, located at 3050 1st Avenue South in St. Petersburg. This program is designed for caregivers including nurses, social workers and mental health counselors - however, everyone is welcome to attend. Two CEU hous will be provided.
Both events are free and open to the public. Please call 727.789.2000 by October 17 to reserve your seat. Seating is limited. Free handout materials and handouts will be provided.
With over 500 guests in attendance, our Monday 31st Annual Memorial Day Service was beautiful. Richard Hunt, Commander Department of Florida Military Order of the Purple Heart was our inspirational our Keynote Speaker. Once again,
Palm Harbor United Methodist Church Choir provided us with beautiful patriotic music. We concluded the event by serving free refreshments as usual. But, this year we had a special surprise for our guests...Chick-fil-a brought thier famous sandwiches for all to enjoy! It was a wonderful way to end a
beautiful event which honored America's fallen veterans.
K-9 Memorial Service Held on May 2
It was our pleasure to honor some the area’s most dedicated law enforcement employees in May…its K9 service dogs. Our 10th annual service was held at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, Tuesday, May 2 at 4:00 p.m. to honor these brave animals. Many attended this very moving ceremony.
K9 service dogs and their handlers from many area police and sheriff’s departments including the Clearwater Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were in attendance at the service. Deceased service dogs from both agencies were remembered. It was a very special event.

Thanks to All Who Attended Our 5th Annual 9/11 Event
On September 11th, we proudly hosted our 5th annual memorial service in honor of the tragedy that occurred in America on September 11, 2001. The program featured John Wilson as our Mater of Ceremonies and 9/11 survivor & first responder Mickey Kross as Keynote Speaker as well as Honor Guards, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Flyover, U.S. Coast Guard Flyover and Olivia the Lowry Park Zoo Eagle.
We are proud to have a one-of-a-kind 9/11 Memorial. A 150-pound piece of rusted steel beam, which was once part of the World Trade Center Towers, is its focal point. The memorial is constructed with nearly 30 tons of American granite and features an eternal flame at its base.

Our 30th Annual Memorial Day Service was Beautiful!
Our 30th annual Memorial Day Service was very special. We had two excellent guest speakers. The first was William G. Cona, who has long been a friend to Curlew Hills. Mr. Cona is the Commandant of the Marine Corps League Department of Florida. William has spent his life dedicated to the Marine Corps.He is a Lifetime Member of the Marine Corps League and spent over 30 years serving the organization.
Our second guest speaker was Captain Rick Haupt. Capt Rick Haupt is the Director of Communication, U.S. Central Command, Communication Integration Directorate, MacDill Air Force Base, FL. Capt Haupt’s career includes 10 years joint, six years overseas and five years of sea duty, including multiple deployments afloat and ashore through every geographical combatant command’s area of responsibility.
Live patriotic music was once again provided by Palm Harbor United Methodist Church choir. Their musical talent delighted the 400+ people in attendance, as always!

2016 K-9 Service Dog Memorial Service
A record amount of people attended our K-9 Service Dog Memorial Tuesday, May 3 to pay tribute K-9 heroes placed in our Garden of Heroes. K9 service dogs and their handlers from many area police and sheriff’s departments including the Clearwater Police Department and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were in attendance at the service to remember deceased service dogs from both agencies. Nearly 60 K-9 service dogs are currently interred at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens.
Curlew Hills Memory Gardens features one of Florida’s only authentic pet cemeteries. The company proudly donates burial plots in the pet cemetery to all service animals of both law enforcement agencies. Without this donation, the handler would pay out of his own pocket for the burial of the animal upon his death.
28th Annual Veterans Day Service
Our Veterans Day Service in 2015 was very special. Our program highlights included:

Major Steve Houten U.S. Army Musical Performances by: Westlake Christian School and Palm Harbor United Methodist Church Choir Presentation by: American Gold Star and Blue Star Mothers of Tampa Bay We also had a presentation of colors, local honor guards & boy scout troops and much more. The program featured Reginald Roundtree as our Mater of Ceremonies and will include Honor Guards, Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Flyover, U.S. Coast Guard Flyover, Tarpon springs Conservatory of Music, the East Lake High School Choral Group and Olivia the Lowry Park Zoo Eagle.

was Beautiful
Our 30th annual Memorial Day Service was a beautiful remembrance to those who gave their lives for our freedom. The bravery, honor and unselfish dedication of all our military veterans past & present should never be forgotten.
Our special Guest Speaker this year was U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Jared D. Hill.His numerous awards include: Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Valorous Unit Award, the Bronze Star Medal for Valor and 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Purple Heart, the NATO Meritorious Service Medal, The Combat Infantry Badge, the Expert Infantry Badge.
A highlight of this year’s Memorial Day service was the display of the one-of-a-kind "Remembering Our Fallen" exhibit. This exhibit features names and photos of Florida soldiers who have died fighting the War on Terror since September 11, 2001. There are 304 Florida soldiers who died from wounds suffered in the war zone while wearing our country’s uniform that are honored on the display. Curlew Hills Memory Gardens is the first on Florida’s West Coast to display this exhibit.
Memorial Day music was provided by the outstanding Palm Harbor United Methodist Church Choir as well as the talented Bones South trombone group. Both groups added great enjoyment to all.
Remembering Florida's Fallen Event
Curlew Hills Memory Gardens was proudly the first on the Florida West Coast to display the "Remembering Our Fallen" on Saturday, March 21. This special, one-of-a-kind exhibit features names and photos of Florida soldiers who have died fighting the War on Terror since September 11, 2001. There are 304 Florida soldiers who died from wounds suffered in the war zone while wearing our country’s uniform that are honored on the display.
A beautiful ribbon cutting ceremony included the parents of Army Corporal Frank Gross, who was killed in action in 2011 as well as Kim Allison the mother of Army Spc. Zack Shannon, who died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan, in 2013. Congressman Gus Bilirakis will also participate in the ceremony.
This is the only memorial which honors by state soldiers who have died fighting the War on terrorism.
